NĀ PALI COAST, KAUAʻI
I photographed this image at Miloli’i Beach on Kaua’i after kayaking the Nā Pali Coast for over 12 miles. I had never witnessed more stars in the sky than I did on this night, and I wanted to capture them in a way that represented the timelessness of this place. A 16 minute exposure reveals the rotation of the Earth from this incredible coastline.

HALEAKALĀ NATIONAL PARK
This photograph is dedicated to Nakota Kai Crumbo - Rest In Peace. After envisioning this photograph for a few years, all the right weather conditions finally aligned with the phase and timing of the rising moonlight, unfortunately on the day of Nakota’s passing. This 20-minute long exposure photograph reveals a high resolution glimpse into the dawning of Halloween at Haleakalā Crater. The star trail movement conveys the rotation of the Earth during the capture.

This night under the stars at Kaihalulu Beach holds very special memories for me. Listening to the glowing, crystal blue tides wash onto these volcanic red sands under the moonlight felt otherworldly.

A brilliant display of the Milky Way galaxy over Haleakalā National Park. I photographed this moment in the middle of the night after a 10-mile hike across this volcanic crater. In the process of creating this piece, I realized the life of an artist is an endless quest to discover the limitless shapes, forms, and beauty of light.

Miles within Haleakalā Crater, one can experience a walk through the incredible cinder cones of this volcanic landscape. This special place was once named “Pele’s Paint House” due to the amazing, dynamic colors of the cinder. I had always wanted to photograph this location under the stars, and on this night, the moonlight really brought Pele’s paint to life.
